Most location apps keep everyone's whereabouts on their servers. Orma is end-to-end encrypted, the way private messaging apps are.

Your circle gets its own key

It's made on a phone in your circle and only ever passes from phone to phone.

People join by invitation

The invite link carries the key in a part browsers never send to a server. New phones are approved by comparing codes.

Our server stores only ciphertext

Locations, places, alerts, photos and names are sealed on your iPhone. We pass them along without being able to read them.

Live location, your way
See your circle on one map. Share until you turn it off, or for a set time, and stop whenever you like. Look back at the last 30 days of paths, arrivals and departures.
Arrival alerts
Save places like home and school, and hear when someone arrives or leaves.
SOS button
Hold for 2 seconds, or use the Action Button or Back Tap. Your circle gets your location until you slide to say you're fine.
Daily check-ins and quiet alerts
Ask someone to check in by a set time each day. Hear when a battery drops below 15% or a phone goes quiet for 2 hours.
Lock Screen and CarPlay
Your sharing status lives on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and in CarPlay.
Easy on battery
Location updates pause while your phone is still, and pick up again when you move.

SOS alerts your circle, not emergency services. To reach 911, 999 or 112, also turn on Emergency SOS in iPhone Settings.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can the people who make Orma see my location?

No. Your location is encrypted on your iPhone with a key that only the phones in your circle hold. Our servers store and pass on ciphertext.

Who can see where I am?

Only the people in your circle. Everyone joins by invitation, everyone can see who's in the circle, and you can stop sharing or leave at any time.

Does SOS call emergency services?

No. Orma alerts your circle with your location. To reach emergency services from your iPhone, also turn on Emergency SOS in iPhone Settings.

Is Orma available on Android?

Not yet. Orma is coming to iPhone first.

What happens when I get a new phone?

Sign in, and your old phone asks if the new one is yours. Compare the codes on both phones and approve. Everyone in your circle is told when a new phone joins.

How long is my location history kept?

30 days, then it's deleted. Leaving a circle deletes your locations in it, and deleting your account deletes everything.
